We’re All Walking Stories.

A note from our Founder

“Perhaps, like me, you’ve had thousands of stranger conversations. I will never forget the one I had with an unassuming Romanian gentleman while on a crowded morning train from Bucharest, Romania, to the lively coastal Black Sea town of Constanta, also in Romania. It was August, 2019. I don’t recall how we got on the topic of Communism in Romania and the gentleman's experience of it, but I'll never forget his description: “A cement grey life,” he'd recollected, “our only joy was people." I’ll never forget his words nor my associated visuals—the remarkably unpleasant concrete housing developments and industrial smoke stacks—the relics of Communism—still littering Romania’s picturesque cities and landscapes. I’ll also never forget the gentleman’s reaction when I asked how he felt once Communism ended.

After throwing a fist into the air high above his head in a gesture of celebratory elation, tears of the decades-long pain he’d endured suddenly slipped out of his eyes and slid down his cheeks, surprising us both. Arriving at the sea, I left that train car more informed—enlightened—with a new view, and more reflective of life both inside of and outside of my personal bubble. I felt experientially richer, more connected, filled with compassion, and soulfully stirred, like I belonged to the world—even excited by Life. All because I said "hello" and started a conversation with a stranger.”

More Conversation Needed.

At Hello Peace™, the current state of global dis-ease made us realize the need for every one of us to open ourselves to conversations with others who live differently, or elsewhere, and who may see and experience the world differently than we do.

From Romania to our own backyards, the world is full of interesting people. Everyone is interesting. Everyone has a story. There is so much to discover. There is so much to gain—like a ha! moments, shifted perspectives, new points of view, new friends and acquaintances and of course, social ease.

So let’s put our collective friendly on and let’s get talking.

Let’s get talking and let’s make peace.
